I think link and anchor text are very important although not as important as in Google.

Yahoo has a different algorithm. I read somewhere that, unlike Google, it gives more weight to the onpage optimization (content) than the reverse.

Yippee has diverse algo. I read some place that not at all like Google, it gives more weight to onpage improvement (content) as opposed to backlinks.

Almost all the sites will not be listed on all the search engines. So, back links will appear only from the sites which have indexed in the search engines.

As far as I know, there are a a multitude of external trackers available for Yahoo. Though, I must admit that these aren't as good as that of analytics.

I still think that Google has the best quality searches. It uses a lot more information than just scanning the page for strings of text.
