i have been listed on google but i cant even find the page so i know it's way down the list. i just changed my keywords last week and i see where google bot and other bots are coming into my site. just seems like the ranking part is hard.

Ranking will not change overnight, especially Google. Did you submit your sitemap to Google?

Sitemaps dont do that much in my experience.

Make sure your title has your keyword phrase, and pack it into your content.

yes do not just change the keywords in the meta tags, you need to implement those keywords everywhere. You need to have them in your title and in links from other sites!
