Is a listing in the Yahoo directory worthwhile?

Yeah i have never used it myself but have heard it helps in ranking in yahoo.. personally unless you have a great profitting niche i think it is too high a price...:)

I have not every listed there as it's a recurring fee. If it was just a one time fee I would get listed.

But for you I suggested checking out your competitors and if the majority are listed you might want to be listed too.

If we're talking about web promotion, Google listing has high priority than Yahoo. High ranking of your site made possible in Google..

yes, and not only does it cost a lot of money but there's no guarantee you will get accepted! so you can drop a few hundred dollars and then at the end of the day hear back we've decided not to list you. and you get no refund. sounds like a sweet deal for yahoo but not for webmasters

I've had sites listed in yahoo for free in the recent past, within a couple of weeks of submission. I've also had similar sites not get listed. If you have an eligible site, then I think it comes down to luck of the draw, but yes, there is a chance that you'll get in.

Taking into account your budget, I would say PPC/Adwords is a better option. Yahoo directory listing won't generate that much traffic. Google is still the best venue to advertise a site.
