Scan Alert and other Security Sites

Scan Alert claims having their service and linking in their directory will help your google ranking. I have noticed a couple of my competitors do use scan alert and also noticed that google does give them a link credit from the directory.

Can anyone else confirm this, or know for sure that this does help google rankings?

Also, are there other authoritative sites similar to this that you may know of that might help rankings.

You may use link exchange, it the easy and simple way, may be granted
Other else methods, needs allot of effort from you
Like making good index linking increasing the number of your website pages, using manually submitting in most famous directory etc,
