Yahoo directory no longer ranking pages alphabetically

Post by quadra »

There recently has been some changes in Yahoo Directory. Yahoo directory is no longer ranking pages alphabetically. They are now ranking them based on link popularity. However, NEW sites are still placed on top for a few weeks.

Here is an example:
http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Econo ... /Internet/

There is also a limit of 40 results per page and the remaining results go to the next page.

This is a major change, as the previous alphabetical format has been in existance since launch of Yahoo back in 94-95.

But they should acquire fair value on previous website than the new one. or it could be better if they put a review button with a corresponding level of value to give credentials to the other sites.

Just for curiosity. Aside from backlinks, what other benefits will you get in yahoo directory if you pay $299 for inclusion.

Who cares if Yahoo doesn't list sites in alphabetical order anymore? Yahoo directory listing only generates low traffic.

For my company (whose name starts with a U) I LOVE this change. Putting the sites in order that they come up in Yahoo Search makes more sense. Why should my site receive a much less valuable link simply based on my company name?
