Google Sitemaps meta tag

Post by viradian »

I've copied and pasted the Google meta information into the location specified by google for verification so I can use Google analytics and Google sitemaps. But Google is telling me it can't verify my site because the meta tag is in the wrong place. It tells you to paste it in your source code, in the the first header before the body code. I've done it just as they specified, but for some reason, it doesn't read it.

I need it to use google sitemaps, but the fact that it can't find their meta tag makes me think Google is having some problem spidering my site. That may be why some of my interior pages haven't been updated in months, while my homepage is updated every 9-12 days...Can someone look at my source code and tell me what is wrong with this...

Thanks in advance.

If I take a look at your website, and look at the source, I see you have twice a <header></header> specified! In the second block you placed the google code, but it needs to be in the first part for it to work (in fact, I would make sure that second block gets removed completely)

Thanks Von...I've tried to eliminate the second header info. I'm not even sure why it was there...HTML is new to me.

I've tried to relocate the google verify code into the first header. Hope it works.
