if you can find high PR directories, specific to your niche, with high traffic, and small amount of links per category, and free to submit... then they are great!

unfortunately, most are low PR, junk directories, with thousands of irrelevant PR0 links.

I see directories being a good way in exposing your site to search engines but now google is the God of search engines so i guess we have to follow its guidelines nowadays.

Directories are best way to getting backlinks and site promotion.

Directory is one good source of backlinks for your site. You can get one-way link from it which can help tour site to rank for a certain keyword.

From Business point of view you need to have good pr of your site. There is no need to Question . Directory submission is important to get back links and important part of seo

The trouble I have with directories is this: You can submit to 100s of directories and only get admitted by a fistful. Sometimes the time isn't worth the difficulty.

I think, directories which has much importance are belong to the paid one. Actually the owner the directory site don't want it to be wasted but most user spam the site such as free directories so everything will lead to big pile of spam list of site

I thinks it's good to do a url directory submission, just to get in all the search engines. However, they aren't that effective. I get a little traffic from search engines I never knew existed, but very little.

Directories play important role in SEO world where you can have submissions and visible to all searchers. It increase traffic to your website and possibility to generate or increase business too.

Most of them give backlinks for our site.
