I wonder if they just lost many links or what? Maybe with the birth of new engines like clusty and kartoo and new google and yahoo that people are making their homepage from MSN.com to something else. Everyone who installs IE automatically has MSN as the default homepage. I didnt used to think many changed it but beginning to think most do now.
Also, I do not think their hotmail service and messenger service are as popular anymore compared to some of the new competiton like g-mail and AIM/y!-messenger.
But without a doubt Google is not gauging MSN as "popular" these days. Much like Alexa.com and www.Alexa.com both lost a PR=7 during the July Toolbar PR (TBPR) update.
It will be interesting to see where MSN search pages (search.MSN.com PR=9) and Bcentral directory (sbd.bcentral.com PR=7) pages end up in the Google SERP's. I dont think I have seen any for a long time listed high. Only Microsoft support pages for windows and office seem to get any rankings and that I believe is microsoft.com (PR=9).

The url google displays is search.msn.com not msn.com. Search.msn.com still has PR=9 like I stated above. Msn.com has PR=2 and is not on page 2 at all.

Also, if you search for "news" they have a page 1 listing for the url msnbc.msn.com which is also a PR=9.! search-engines-web wrote:They are on page two for the term SEARCH ENGINES they still have their PR it is probably a technical display flaw that statistically happens with the PR technology

Good eye submit, that is a really odd thing to see happen to a large portal or site.
- also I noticed Alexa.com and www/Alexa.com both got PR back this update. I believe before bourbon update it was PR=7, then they lost PR completely for awhile and now I think they are PR=8.

I saw that this morning too! I thought it was funny I went back to check and it was back at 2 again. I think there was a glitch much like some other TB PR errors we have seen in the past.ammon wrote:Looks like MSN is a PR9 now 10-26-05 msn.com
TB PR errors happen all the time, we just do not hear about it unless its an authoritative site like MSN.com or something.
It will be PR=9 by the end of the week across all datacenters in my opinion. Nice job on fixing that quickly for MSN search Google!!
