All search engines adopt different algorithm when indexing websites so even if you rank better in either one of them, you may not have the same results for the other search engine.

The best way to get good results in all the major search engines are consistently update your website content, build more links from sites listed in the various engine.

Maybe because MSN doesn't change algo that often

Hi,
Yes, you are right but before these steps you have to submit your site in MSN. Then, do all these steps. 8)

Is it that easy?

Post by bigmallrat »

Most of my site dropped after the MSN algo changed in 2007 and they haven't been back. Granted, the pages are still indexed, they just don't show up in the top 100 sites for my keyword phrases (as they did previously). Of course, I still have top rankings for many of my pages on Google, Yahoo, and Ask. My keyword phrases are not competitive.
I checked today and it looks as if the Windows Live Web crawler hasn't updated most of my "missing" pages since June of 2008. I'm not blocking their Web crawler (or anyone elses, for that matter). I just don't know why this is happening. It crawls my home page regularly.
Any basic things am I missing? I've been up and down the Windows Live Webmasters area and I'm not new to search engine optimization. Therefore, I must be overlooking the obvious.
Thanks,
Scott

The new live search seems to adopt some of google's feature. I guess if you concentrate on pushing the ranking on google, it will give advantage on your MSN's ranking.

I think MSN optimization is not so easy as google.com

I think MSN optimization is not so easy as google.com because we need only submit our sitemaps on google and it index pages in 1 week. But same is not in MSN search.

MSN pays considerable attention to Keywords and Density. Probably not to much to external links directed to the sites. This can be an advantage if you now how to offer your products or services.
