Fluctuations in daily rankings

What causes the small fluctuations in the rankings over the course of a day. For instance, I have some keywords that show me in the first position in Yahoo SERPs, and then an hour later it is in the 3rd position, then the next day it may be 5th, that same day I might see it back up to 1st....the point is, I'm not making that many changes, but I seem to go up and down in the rankings over the course of a day....why is that?

I'm finding that, recently, my keywords will stay put for about a week, then change based on how many links I exchange, or seo I do to my site.
Yahoo's last update about 9 days ago really boosted some of my keyword positions and my traffic from Yahoo has gone up a lot based on that.

It is always happen all the time. There is a constant updating and changes in the data center
