I use google for searching the web, Yahoo to search news and msn in for images. I think all search engines have their own edge over others. Google is the most populous though.

Having a high rank in yahoo really takes time. Based on my experience, content weighs heavier on their search results. Anyway, huge traffic still come from the big G.

Looks similar but not at all,the thing is about these search engines that they are very relative to each other, for example Yahoo may supply Altavista with PPC results and Altavista may supply Yahoo with generic search results, or might be Altavista is owned by Yahoo so they have parent search engines.

Almost all the sites will not be listed on all the search engines. So, back links will appear only from the sites which have indexed in the search engines.
