The simple answer is no – search engine submission isn’t necessary. The majority of search engines nowadays (most notably Google) crawl and index pages by following links. I use google for searching the web, Yahoo to search news and msn in for images. I think all search engines have their own edge over others. Google is the most populous though.

Having a high rank in yahoo really takes time. Based on my experience, content weighs heavier on their search results. Anyway, huge traffic still come from the big G.
