In terms of the structure of your website, you should try to make the site easy to navigate and to keep things simple. Include a site map that links to all of the pages on your website - Yahoo finds sites easier to crawl when they have a site map in place and you'll also find it a benefit with the other major search engines.
You'll also need some good inbound links to do well in Yahoo. Consider the anchor text that is being used in those inbound links - you want to use your keywords within the anchor text but don't overdo it - you may be penalized if you do.
Finally, avoid black hat techniques. Cloaking, doorway pages and hidden text are all great ways to get your website completely removed from the Yahoo rankings.

I've found it much easier to rank in Google and MSN (or Bing), than Yahoo.

you will rank in yahoo by paid directory submission, yahoo prioritize paid inclusion.

My experience told me that backlinks are important for yahoo rankings. But don't get too many backlinks from one site with the same anchor text or it will be considered as spams.

You have to increase the number of your backlinks and you should go for the advanced and appropriate keyword in your webpage.

i agree with "neetusharma" that Both have different ways of ranking. Yahoo gives more weigh to on page factors. Add the phrase in title and body text.

Maybe try to focus also in your content. Yahoo is more on content.

You just need to focus on keywords, title tags and meta tags for your web pages. And also participate in yahoo answer!

Maybe this is one of the factors and also maybe you are lacking content.

submit your site to yahoo site explorer, remove the error if any, do not do keyword stuffing, optimize your content with less keywords stuffing.

Focus on great content, on page optimization and a lot of back link from several IP's then you have more chance to get high SERP on YAHOO.
