Post by QuanTK »

A few sites I'm working with have had listings completely disappear from the top 100. Just straight out vanish in a week.

Have I been missing something?

Did you do any changes recently with your sites? If yes, that might cause some problems. You didn't mention their web addresses and no one can actually see those sites to figure it out what's could be the reson for such Yahoo behavior.

I just checked my listings for one of my main keywords...floor pillow...I used to be on the first page and my listings would fluctuate from 3-5 depending on the day...as of today, Yahoo says I have 600+ links (yesterday it said I had over 1000+) and my floor pillow splash page is nowhere to be found...

What gives? I'd expect this from Google, but yahoo has been pretty consistent for me.

Hey guys,

I've been doing research and optimization for pretty while, and I came to some conclusion that the standard optimization rules have to be followed anyway in order to reach appropriate SE listings. BUT..., search engines are not staying still on the same spot trying to improve their algorythms. That's really become pretty confusy when SE algorythm changed and web sites, which use to have better listing positions, now start loosing those positions. The first thing that comes to the people's mind is "What did I do wrong?" It's very possible you did not do enything wrong, but the new SE's algorythm made that kind of mess (sometimes could be because of their bugs). Then you see everything changed for the better again, no matter you didn't even have a chance to make changes to your source code.

My idea is the following: probably webmasters have to follow old well known technics (without tricks), increasing the number of relevant high quality back-links, etc... and don't take it personally if sometimes we see temperarely strange SE behavior, that might be changed back soon even with increasing your rating.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong?

Have a great day,
Peter

Hi,

In fact one thing which sometimes is forgotten is the search engines fluctuation factor. In many cases, engines have temporary updates and upgrades, and so some might see increase or decrease in rankings.

In most cases, after a couple of days everything should be in order again.

A fresh content with enough density will help your site to be on top of yahoo.com.

Yeh, for that money it would be silly if there is no guarantee :)

What do you mean by fresh content? I'm refreshing my content almost every day. I mean, not totally, but always make some content refreshment based on my keywords. I wouldn't say it help too much as far as SERP or PR concern. I do it because I provide some new information to my customers. As of now I can say Google treats me better than Yahoo, so far.

Have a great day,
