What means Google's Sitemaps service? How can website get benefit from this service?

Hi Akash,
I read somewhere I dont remember that right now. But that time I read that Google released its new Google Sitemaps service. Despite the name, Google Sitemaps is not a tool that creates sitemaps for your website. Google Sitemaps is another way to submit your web pages to Google. How can your website benefit from this service? so the question arise.

Sitemaps from my sites havent done much. They DO NOT increase your ranking in google, but DOES help Google find pages that it has not already indexed in your site.

I use the sitemaps, but put VERY low faith in them, as they dont really do much at all.

So it can increase the ranking of pages of a site with certain keywords, if you have pages optimized for certain keywords not yet listed. In cases were you got those pages listed with the help of the sitemap.
