Just wondering. Are there any parameters on what constitutes an article? Would a couple of informational paragraphs relating to my site do or do I need to write a thesis?

I got my answer by reading many of the articles in the links provided...which is what I should have done before asking the question. Sorry.
Now can someone answer this for me. If I write an article how many of those sites should I submit it to? Would it be considered spamming if I submit it to too many sites?

IMO I think article submission is not that effective for link building and even traffic.

Don't forget to put a link to your site when you submit an article to article directory. This is the key how your site get a backlink.
