One way to get in is to volunteer to be an editor of a category. You have a better chance with an obscure category obviously.

I have heard that you can actually get in trouble if you become an editor and get your site approved immediately or multiple sites that you own. Has anyone else heard this?

I think dmoz is a waste of time and way too saturated. I know it would be nice to get listed in there but I am not getting my hopes up!

Same here, it would be nice to get listed, but you never know about the editor!

If all else fails pay for it. People get bids to get listed in dmoz.

No I don't own this site it is something you may consider. Luckily I got in without paying.

Have you ever followed up with the ones who have tried to pay for a listing to see the outcome?

Someone would have to be stupid to pay for a free listing, and secondly your sites will get banned.

I too have been getting the service temporarily unavailable, check back in a couple days message. Sounds like from what I have read here though I would do well to spend my time worrying about other things.
