FL-4330-BOOST-K9 activated, but no visible improvement in throughput?

Post by ormsystems »

Hey all,

Hey all,

I just applied the FL-4330-BOOST-K9 license on one of our ISR 4330 routers expecting a noticeable performance bump — but to be honest, I’m not seeing much difference.

Smart Licensing shows the license as Active (In Use), and everything looks normal on the dashboard. But throughput and CPU load are basically the same as before. I ran a few performance tests (before and after activation), and the results are almost identical — which makes me wonder if the boost license is actually doing anything at all.

Is there any extra step I’m supposed to take after activating BOOST-K9? Like enabling a specific performance mode, or maybe some hidden CLI command that unlocks the new limits? Cisco’s documentation is super vague (just says it “enhances crypto throughput and performance capabilities” — whatever that means 😅).

Would appreciate if anyone could share:

Did you see real performance gains after activating FL-4330-BOOST-K9?

Are there certain metrics or show commands to confirm it’s applied correctly?

Any chance the router needs a full reload or sync to reflect the new capacity?

At this point, I’m not sure if I missed something or if the change just isn’t as visible as expected.

Thanks in advance for any input — even a small hint would help before I open yet another TAC case.
