If your site is not index in yahoo, if your site is optimized, try to check the keyword density of your targeted keywords , it must be 2-4%, check the relevancy of the keywords, create articles, submit it to article directories, submit your site to yahoo directories and use the yahoo services such as yahoo answer or yahoo blog.

post comments in the forum and add a tag to your profile with a link to your homepage....Yahoo and Google frequent these forums and it will help you get indexed.

Also, try to exchange links with other relevant sites. Update your content often. Fresh content tells the spiders to visit more frequently and they will crawl deeper into your site each time. This will result in your entire site getting indexed.

Sometimes it does take a little while though, so be patient.

I would rather have my site found through links than to be submitted to Yahoo, or Google for that matter...

I agree. It's commonly accepted that search engines prefer finding you through back links.
