Google Links

Hello i am new to this SEO thing and have been running my new forum now for about 2 months. I did have an old forum that had a PR 4 on Google and i didnt do any SEO work at all. But from the time i set up my new site i have been spending a lot of hours setting up links and submitting my site to directorys and still my site has 0 PR. Now when i run a check on links i think i have about 800 sites linking to my site but they all show up on MSN and all the others but i have 0 links on Google. Can someone explain why this is or what i am doing wrong.

You are not doing anything wrong, google doesnt update links but every 3-4 months. You just missed it so you will have to wait for the other. Also, google only shows about 5% of the links it actually knows about, so you will always see more links in the other engines than you will in google. Just keep going with the link building and your PR will increase on the next update!

Thanks overdriveelectronics that put my mind at rest i was thinking that maybe i was doing something wrong. Any other suggestions that will help me getmy PR up.

Well, google don't like redirected pages and also unorganized indexed pages so when search engine visits your site, they come as scheduled not like human bean, they move from pages to another
So try as much as you can to reduce redirection pages and but instead of unavailable pages a site-map pages, so they the search engines will schedule in the next visit the new URL founded

Yahoo site explorer shows the exact number of links. Google is aware of the links, but it never displays all of them.
