Why google does not show any backlinks to my site?

Google only shows higher quality backlinks. However, this isn't always true, don't know why. Use yahoo and msn to check your backlinks, they are more accurate.

It took google 5 months or so to show that I had any backlinks when Yahoo and MSN were showing that I had over 100. Even now, google only says I have 9 links....I don't know how they figure that...

You all must understand that this is how google works. They only show a small portion of the links it knows about to your site. No one knows why and they are not always of top quality either. Do not worry about it, this is just how it is. As for the link update, it usually comes around when the PR is updated like vistadivine said!

Vista, what do you mean by "when the PR is updated?" How often does this happen?

I didn't know that...so we're due for a PR update pretty soon then?

Good, I'd like to see if I have increased my PR over the last couple of months. Do you know how Google does this update?

Do they just check all of the current sites in their index with a Googlebot type crawler?

Im not sure the specifics but google already knows your PR, but havent made it visible to the public yet. Your PR is constantly being updated but they only update the public view once every 3-5 months!

That is a relief than. i was suprised and worried when i did't see any backlinks from google, while there are over 1000 from MSN. And also my keywords are doing much better in MSN.

Google likes to be mysterious that way...I wish we didn't have to rely on Google so much for traffic.

There are websites dedicated to predicting the next pagerank time.
Within a month it should come. I found a neat tool that predicts your pagerank. It has worked for me in the past:
