Some things about improving in GOOGLE

Post by Silversurfer »

Hi there,

really nice and interesting forum :)

Still I have some questions I haven't succeeded to answer by searching.

Everyone agrees that Page Rank is the key for a new site to be indexed by google higher on top.

And the best way to improve you Rank is to be linked to high Ranking sites.

Now:

If I have a very low page Rank like 1 for instance, HOW MANY >5 ranked Pages need to link to me until I make a step up?

Of course there are also other factors, but what can I expect?

Is it realistic to expect improvement after being linked from 20, 50, or 100 (or more?) sites?

I have aleady 10 sites that are linking to me but same pageRank, now I wonder how much time I still have to invest just to make the change from Rank 1 to 2. Or when it's likely to go up.

Second question:

There are lot's of sites out there that offer software packages in order to improve keyranks. One of them is LinkExplore.

What do you think about these kind of services. I think this is not really a fair game if it would even work and I doubt it can do what the sites claim.

Do you have any experiences with tools that can help to improve Ranking in a legal and efficient way?

Then, is it maybe nevertheless better to do it the hard way and make your site popular manually?

That's it so far...

...many thanks in advance!

It is hard to determine how many sites it takes to get your PR higher. The problem with sites that have PR 0 is, Google hasn't indexed some of those sites yet. For the longest time, Google hadn't indexed my site and all of the links pages I had made didn't benefit anyone, because google didn't know about them. But, one day, Google will index all of those sites, and all of those pages, and follow the links back to your site.

I found this free PR predictor tool on this forum...its pretty interesting

vista, a strange thing happened when I first used the tool a few weeks ago...it first predicted my site to increase from PR2 to PR3...a week after that, I checked again...and it predicted a jump to PR4.

Any explanation for that increase? I may have added a few links and some content...but not that much...

I didnt see any specific answers to some of those questions:

1) the statement: "Everyone agrees that Page Rank is the key for a new site to be indexed by google higher on top. "
- I disagree. To get listed, you just need a link from a site that google crawls. To get listed high, you need good content, and title tags. Neither of these have to do with pagerank directly.

2) How many links to trade before you see results?
-Depending on how you trade, if you hand email admins to trade links, then maybe 10 quality links, from pages with a pagerank 3 or above will get you a pagerank 2.

3) Tools to improve pagerank: none. I havent found any 'magical' SEO tools. I host a lot at my website, have tried them all, and none are a miracle. Read more articles, and content on SEO, and learn how to do what the tools do. At that point, you can use some of the tools, speeding up mindless tasks in SEO.

Hope that at least cleared that up for someone.

Hi Silver Surfer

Submiting your site to free directories is a good way to gain backlinks and PageRank I have found that http://www.directorycritic.com has the best list of ones to submit to, submit to hundreds of em, this will help build up Trustrank and also PageRank.
