Applying 301 redirect causes to loose page rank (PR) ?

Yes, I think 301 redirect can cause problem for Page Rank and ranking. Because Google and other search engines don't consider the redirect sites as the same site. Therefore, they index the sites independently. This can cause problems for Page Rank and ranking.
