Discussion On PR

Hi there,
I want to share some experience about PR so com'n all webmasters come and join this.
1. Worring about PR takes time away from effective tasks like building content and link building.
2. Google PR is good for link exchange, but not more. If you see brand
fresh web site asking to exchange link with you, don't reject from PR.
What about you....

PR was invented to keep webmasters happy by convincing them that hours analysing keyword density and meta tags had actually achieved something.

You guys are right !
But to add to that, I take the number of links on the linkback page very seriously, because if that page does not have PR doesnt matter but that page should not have too much of outgoin links and more importantly should be linked from the homepage. Otherwise if PR is presented to you, definately nobody is going to reject it

Pagerank has nothing to do with getting quality links from relevant pages.

PageRank is a numeric value (0-10) that represents how important a page is on the web. 0 is the lowest value and 10 is the highest value. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determine a page's ranking in the search results.

Pagerank = 2(one way links) + (reciprocal links)
In this, the one ways are worth more (the numbers are arbitrary)
Pagerank is to show that a webpage is embedded in the internet. If you are looking to spend 500$ on a digital camera, a pagerank 0 site I would assume to be MORE LIKELY to be a scam, or a new service (which might not have its stuff together)
I use pagerank to be a 'stat whore'. I always check my backlinks, and where Im at in Google. I change my site (tweak it) a lot for higher ranking.
Bottom line:
Pagerank = e-penis
