To get high SERP, submit your site in many directories, use proper keywords in your content, regularly update content, and prepare blog. All these points will definitely help you in getting more traffic.

I would suggest that you should focus on your keywords and body content.
As your site is local based you should put the city name and zip code between the body text.
Include city and state name in link text. Register for local search with major search engines.
It could be a little help to get a decent rank.
