SERPs stands for Search Engine Results Pages..

It is a list of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a given keyword query

SERPs stands for search engine ranking page result and it should be visible to the search engine. It is usually the keywords search by the users to the search engine.

yes ben, i,m new in seo, my boss gave me an assignment on how to get our website in rank 1-5 in google seo? will you pls give me some tips or help me how can i do that, what must i do to get at the rank 1-5 in google seo.

There's a lot of things to consider in optimizing a site..
BTW here's an article about Google Ranking Factors
(it's quite old but most of the tips in that article are proven to be effective)

SERP (Search Engine Results Pages) is the listing of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a keyword query. The results normally include a list of web pages with titles, a link to the page, and a short description showing where the keywords have matched content within the page.

1. article submission (using better content)
2. directory submission
3. blog submission and blog updation
4.online discussion
5.press release
6.rss submission
u will certainly find gud result.

It greatly depends on your keywords...if these are one of the popular wprd like money then its really difficult to bring to 1-5 rank in google search for a new site..all the best Marcus
