www vs. non-www

I just started a new site about a month ago and I'm having problems with the non-www version of my site being listed. I've check all of my internal links and they all point to www. I tried to save an .htaccess file to my server (hosted by Yahoo), but I am unable to save the file - as a result, I cannot redirect. I'm going crazy here...please help!! BTW, I used front page....could I have set something-up wrong when I started the site???
