I agree fully with your friends comments on sharing knowledge as most people wont take action anyway.

The most important piece of advice I have is dont go alone find a partner or a group of people. This will keep you motivated, gives you someone whom you must answer to and share the workload. Also it can provide another knowledge base in which to work off.

It has helped me 10 fold.

That is one of the things I learned, and it is true, even though if you are going to hire a mentor it will be expensive depends on who he is. But you get a ton of benefit.

I have four years experience online, and I know this thing is fun but it takes time and energy.
