How do Sitemaps help rankings?

I have just uploaded a sitemap.

How should his affect my ranking in search engines?

sitemaps don't really help your ranking. What it will do is help the search engines find and index every page in your site.

We add sitemap to a website for search engine that search engine crawl all pager of the website.It don't have any effect on PR.

Sitemap is good especially for both user and search engine.Site map help your site indexed faster for an instance, if you made some changes to your site, it immediately inform search engine. It is also good for visitors coz it made easy for them to find all information regarding your site....

Sitemap actually don't affect SERPs at all.. It is just a good help in faster crawling of a site....

For easy Visitor's navigation and SE crawling...

how do I add a site map? is it basically just a page on your site that has a link to every other ;page on your site?

Sitemap don't affect rankings it is just a map of all your site...
